I just bought a copy, and I see no such picture. I do see the article
about future space transportation options. The Chron must have changed
its mind. Or does it have more than one daily edition?
At least Ian got mentioned (page A7, column 1): "Previously, I've seen
a glowing trail that faded, but this was a smokey trail that remained,"
said Ian Kluft, who watched the shuttle from Mt. Hamilton near San Jose.
The article also talks about an amateur astronomer who showed them
a photograph of "a vivid, lightning-like discharge apparently crossing
through the contrail's left side." Just as I type this, Andrew Fraknoi is
talking on KQED about the possibility of meteor strikes.
