Also worth noting that it happened that way because of previous analysis
of the failure-immediately-after-takeoff case, which concluded that in the
event of loss of electrical power to the engine controls, the engines
should keep running rather than stopping.  (And that there should be a
fallback mechanical way of killing the engines.)

(The problem was corrosion in the electrical system.  "In Mojave, all
water is salt water.")
