We have a reservation for Thursday night, 7-10PM, at the Baker's Square
restaurant in Redwood City. That's at 949 Veterans Blvd., not too far from
Whipple Avenue and 101. To get there, exit 101 at Whipple, go west, take
the first left onto Veterans Blvd. and look for the restaurant after that
street begins to curve to the left (and just before the Kaiser-Permanente
complex.) Any of the map sites will show it.
The phone number is (650) 367-8666. They say they do not charge a
gratuity as long as we order from the menu.
I also looked at Marie Callendar's in Los Altos (no meeting room) and
Hobee's in Palo Alto (meeting room cannot be closed off -- it's noisy). The
Hobee's manager there told me that the one in Belmont/Redwood Shores has a
better meeting room. I gave them a call, and verified that. However, since
they cater to the day workers in those bayside office towers, they are open
only until 2:30 PM. But the manager there said the Sunnyvale Hobee's (near
Mathilda and 101) has a suitable meeting room. Could someone give them a
call? (Number is below.)
It's my understanding that CoCo's is out of the picture since the
remaining one in Sunnyvale is booked up and the San Jose North First Street
location has a meeting room that won't suit us. Carrows has no meeting
rooms, AFAIK.
I could use some help checking out these other possibilities:
BAKER'S SQUARE (http://www.bakerssquarerestaurants.com/)
* 2910 El Camino Real, Santa Clara (408) 984-5433
* 174 W. Calaveras Blvd., Milpitas (408) 262-4683
HOBEE'S (http://www.hobees.com/)
* 680 River Oaks Plaza, San Jose (408) 232-0190
* 800 Ahwanee Avenue, Sunnyvale (408) 524-3580 <---
* 1101 Shoreway Road, Belmont (650) 596-0400
MARIE CALLENDAR'S (http://www.mcpies.com/)
* 790 West Winton Avenue, Hayward (510) 783-4469
* 333 South Abbot Street, Milpitas (408) 263-7437
* 780 South Winchester Blvd., San Jose (408) 243-9018
* 20750 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino (408) 255-2317
* 751 El Camino Real, Sunnyvale (408) 245-3710
If someone could call and find out their meeting room status, that
would expedite things. Also, if anyone knows of a "local" that's well-
situated, reasonably priced and has a suitable meeting room, please advise
the list. Or another chain -- John Cletheroe's list might jog some memories
(it did mine):
