Huh, I wouldn't count on that! In presence of the right catalyst H2 reacts willingly with O2, even at very low concentrations and at an initial room temperature. Thats how Tridyne works...
H2 is unhandy for other reasons of course.

Oops, you are right -- I forgot that H2 does indeed burn on platinum catalysts. Injecting hydrogen or propane could conceivably work out, but it would certainly be a messier arrangement. We have a few more things yet to try with the mixed monoprop solutions, which offer truly wonderful system simplicity.
