OK, here are the options I'm aware of. Most were supplied by the good
folks at ba.food. I reproduce their suggestions verbatim. Also, Sean
suggested the California Buffet in San Jose. I don't have an address for
that one at the moment.

* The Original Pancake House, De Anza Blvd. in w. San Jose
improved food, reasonable prices, closable mtg. room
Lions Club may still meet there.

* The Pizz'a Chicago on El Camino in Palo Alto
has a large back room, good pizza, and, most importantly, beer.
Parking is reasonably good, price shouldn't be a problem, but
it is at least a couple of miles from 101 and far from CalTrain,
so accessability might be an issue.

* The Hometown Buffet on Capitol Ave and McKee has a meeting room
with a door you can close. It seats at least 40, IIRC. We had
homeowners association meetings there for a while. You don't
need to pay a separate fee. Following the link from the page
   you referenced: http://www.buffet.com/html/us/ca/SanJose.html
That doesn't mention the availablity of a meeting room, so
I don't know if the others in the area have one.

* The Tied House in MV has a back room that might work for you.

* When I was doing this sort of thing, we often met at Tied House,
but that's not real quiet. One place with a separate room, though,
is Armadillo Willy's at El Caminio and San Antonio. I'm pretty sure
they'd accommodate you, and the food is OK (as good as Harry's was
anyway). Oh, and you should ask Austin's, also on El Camino, in
Mountain View. They have special events some nights, which would
work against what you want, but when they aren't having the events,
they'd be perfect. They usually only seat in one of their dining
   rooms. I eat there often.

Sean, can you report on the California Buffet? I'll check out the options
in Mountain View, plus The Original Pancake House, and the Hometown Buffet
in Santa Clara. Can somebody else -- Dave M? -- check out the Hometown
Buffets in San Jose?
