Us among others.  Ed Wright, with his rocket racing league, has also
been very influential.

I know the X Prize Foundation didn't incorporate FAST into their X
Prize Cup proposal because they presented before we did.  Peter gave a
presentation to COMSTAC on the Wednesday before ISDC, and the X Prize
Cup was the last couple slides.  They want to avoid the fate of the
CATS Prize, which expired unclaimed and quietly faded away.  X Prize
Cup is a logical follow on.  FAST is a more logical follow on.  :-)

Of course, an X Prize Cup race would be a lot cheaper to put on than a
FAST program.
