The idea is not ridiculous; the Mockingbird guys at LLNL thought about
glued seams for their 15psi tanks.

It's probably simpler to just put a thin layer of cork on the outside for
thermal protection. That said, the Mockingbird guys did also consider
propellant fountains for active cooling of the tank walls.
The final Mockingbird design -- insofar as the project got as far as a
final design -- didn't have either of those features, but my impression is
that they were considered credible approaches.
