The first thought that comes to my mind is that 90% of the job requires 10%
of the effort.  There are several nuisance items that the builder has
pointed out.  Solving those issues makes the commercial segway look like a
fair deal.

But I absolutely applaud the effort as it shows what a little enginuity can
do.  Perhaps, the lesson is that replicating NASA's work would be grossly
expensive...... If you are willing to make do, it can be done much less
expensively.  Furthermore, with more tinkering, you can get a perfectly
functional and acceptable piece of equipment ---- Just watch out for that
"Accelerate my head into the pavement" part.  :)
