The first thought that comes to my mind is that 90% of the job requires 10% of the effort. There are several nuisance items that the builder has pointed out. Solving those issues makes the commercial segway look like a fair deal.
But I absolutely applaud the effort as it shows what a little enginuity can do. Perhaps, the lesson is that replicating NASA's work would be grossly expensive...... If you are willing to make do, it can be done much less expensively.
