Unfortunately, Prentice Hall is still very much around. Moreover, on close inspection, Ring was editor rather than author -- the chapters are by an assortment of authors. (The copyright is by the publisher.)
Doesn't look promising for getting reprint permission, alas.
But it never hurts to ask. I know that there are some websites for out of print books that reprints them. Maybe Prentice Hall would agree to such a deal (or even better, if enough interest is shown,
they might become interested in doing a 2nd Edition). So long as
they get their money, and we get a copy, I'm amenable.
