John, can we have approximate figures for the planned
X Prize flight of the Armadillo vehicle?

The numbers I currently have are the following:

tank volume - 850 gallons
tank weight - 1 lb per gallon
thrust - 4 engines, 1000 lbf each
acceleration time - 95 seconds
confirmed Isp - 140 s

2700 lbs, tank weight - about 850 lbs. And the total
thrust of 4000 lbs... the mass budget doesn't seem to
be right.

What am I missing?

Thank you very much,

Alexander

The 1000 lbf engines are just for pre-launch-license testing. The 12" diameter engines should make 4x the thrust.

Total vehicle dry mass is about 2200 lb, and it can hold 8500 pounds of propellant when using a pressurization system instead of tank blowdown.

We already saw 145 Isp on a small engine, so I expect that we will make 150 in the final large engines, which goes to 170 vacuum.

The acceleration time involves some throttle changes, and a partial blowdown.

We have a 1600 gallon tank on order, in case things don't work out with the smaller tank.
