P.S. The Voyager Restaurant ran out of food half way through the morning because so many people came to watch and celebrate. :-)
Congrats to the Scaled team!!!
My non-technical impressions:
* Acceleration was *very* obvious thanks to the cirrus clouds giving texture to the sky. 0.65 mach numbers in 15 sec, yee freakin' hah!
* I heard no sonic boom (possibly due to geometry and refraction).
* Nobody reported hearing the engine burn, either, which would have been about 40-50 seconds later. Again, I think the sound may have been refracted away by the normal temperature gradient in the air.
* The halftime show was fun too- while WK & the chase planes were getting into position, a 737 was doing high speed passes along runway 30 for airspeed calibrations. Just another day in Mojave...
* When XCOR goes public and I make my fortune, I want an Alphajet.
* Nice buzz job from the Beech starship! (But legal, of course)
* Congratulations and envy to the Scaled team, in spades.
* Ghod I love working here :)
