All:

I have recently had a short E-mail interaction with Elliot Ring.
For those of you lucky enough to own a copy of the book "Rocket
Propellant and Pressurization Systems", he is the author. I have
received permission from Elliot to forward his E-mail messages
to me about hydrogen peroxide to the ERPS list. They are attached below.

I will point Elliot to the ERPS sign Mail list sign up sheet at:

<http://lists.erps.org/mailman/listinfo/erps-list>

and see if he wants to sign up.

I hope you folks find the messages below interesting,

-Wayne

Experimental Rocket Propulsion Society.

I learned of your site recently, and was pleased to see that there is still
an interest in experimental rocket propulsion. Good for you!

Your article describes an interest in Hydrogen Peroxide and mentions that a
silver screen catalyst would melt when used with 95% Peroxide. This is
contrary to my own experience, which is described in a final report on the
development of a large scale Hybrid Rocket Motor using 95% Hydrogen Peroxide
Oxidizer and polyethylene fuel, work which was done by General Electric Co.
in the early fifties, on Project Hermes. I believe you will find the report
of use in your work with Hydrogen Peroxide.

Final Report, Hybrid Rocket Motor, and Supporting Development was issued October 1953, and, I believe, is available through the Armed Services Technical Information Agency, Arlington Hall Station, Arlington 12, Virginia, or, if not there, at the Defense Documentation Center, Defense Logistics Agency, Cameron Station, Alexandria, Virginia.

Good luck, Elliot Ring

Dear Mr. Gramlich,
Sorry, I made a mistake. My memory isnt as good as it has been. The
highest grade hydrogen peroxide I used was only at 90 percent, not 95.

If you are still interested you may want to contact Andrew Kubica who has
kept up with hydrogen peroxide development.
His address is: 23240 Mariano St.
Woodland Hills, CA 91367
