I id a lookup on the Tree 210 and came across this page http://www.treemachinetools.com/oldstuff/back_in_time____trees_of_yesteryear.htm , about half way down the page they show a picture of the 210. The caption says;
---------

Built 1985-1994?

Same as J310, except only 2 axis programmable. Sliding ram and tilting head. Power quill feed was standard. Limited production, approximately 20 total units produced by special order only.

-----------------

I think you will have problems finding the 3rd axis for this machine, did you find out otherwise? Have you considered a new controller kit?

BTW at the U of MD machine shop I worked in they had a couple of Tree manual machines. They were stiffer than the Bridgeports, but because they didn't use an R-8 collet tooling was sparse in the shop and they didn't get used much. IIRC you didn't have to reach to the top of the machine to do a tool change, it was a nut on the bottom (and holding the wrench).

I was beginning to think nothing was happening, thanks for the report.
The halt for tool change is a safety feature. You should really count your fingers a couple of times before you change the code.

The problem isn't stopping for tool change -- it will do that no problem. It's getting started again after I'm done that is the problem.
