Doing the display of what the IMU thinks is going on has been a bit trickier than I expected. Of course I could have just done the simple display of axes like John did with his, but NOOOO... I had to go do a model of gizmo so I could more easily see any difference between what the IMU thinks is going on and what reality is. Anyway, I got simple model done and rendering correctly in OpenGL. A trimmed down screenshot is attached.
I still have to integrate the actual IMU data and do the rotations. I think the tricky part will be the OpenGL calls rather than the integrations. I also need to add more visual cues for "seeing" altitude. The two tricks I think should do that are shadows on the ground and following the model with the camera.
