Claus, that is not how ES6 promises work. (Or their predecessors in Q and elsewhere.) In essence, the "then" message sent to a promise is just one of many, and in particular it can't be pipelined. If you were to pipeline a "get" message, you wouldn't do so via the "then" mechanism. More on this can be found in Kris's recent presentation:
