Multipart/mixed mail message not forwarded to proxy

I've defined a target that uses an http endpoint. When sending a request to the
proxy that uses this target, the request is forwarded successfully to the http
endpoint. When replacing the http endpoint with a mailto endpoint, the request
is - according to the logs - forwarded to the mail endpoint. However, the mail
message is never received. I've configured the mailto transportSender to use
the correct SMTP server and I've activated tracing for javax.mail and
org.apache.synapse.transport, but I do not see an error in the log files. I
guess their is a problem when WSO2ESB tries to send the message to the mailto
endpoint.
