I have small veins that collapse and roll and frequently lose the IV so I'll probably stay in the hospital a couple of days.  I'm going to call my vet tomorrow and see if the Clomicalm will work.  If it doesn't, this boy has to find another home.  I've never had a problem with socializing dogs before and feel like a failure on this.  He's such an adorable boy but I feel he needs to be an only the lonely dog - or at least with a female.  I'm putting the word out with some local doggie friends and hope I can find a solution.  Thanks for your prayers.

I'm so sorry about your infection, Cheryl.  The IV's work best on these infections so that's a good move.  Will you be giving them to yourself when you get home or go to the hospital?  We did the IV's at home 3 x times a day when our daughter had a really bad  infection several years ago.  She had one of those ports put in and the company, Apria, came out 3 times to help train us on how to do them.  If we can do them anyone can!!  I'll say prayers for your recovery and for a solution to your dog problem.  Take care of yourself.

Thanks for the article.  I'll have to read it.  The four dogs aren't the problem.  They are a well rounded pack.  The fifth dog is the problem.  He just hates one of my four.  As I type this I'm washing clothes to go to the ER.  The wound from the second bite I got from him has become infected and is absessing.  (sp?)  It is so bad that it smells.  My doctor told me that antibiotic pills wouldn't help it.  It was too bad and needs IV antibiotics.  I've got to find a home for this dog with no other animals STAT.  I don't have money for a trainer.  I had him fixed and that didn't seem to do any good altlhough its only been about a month.

Good luck with four dogs, I saw an article today on the Karen Pryor site that might be interesting about training dogs in a multi-dog household.  I didn’t see it mentioned, and so I am wondering about whether working with a trainer might help in this situation?

Best of luck!
