Deb ~

I must have been calling the same time you did! According to the person who
answered, there was another person on the line calling about Nikko. Hopefully
several individuals will be able to offer some help.

Re: Ziggy and insurance... Considering I had only made my second monthly
payment when he was diagnosed, I have definitely made out. So far, between lab
work, x-rays, EKGs (he also has heartworm currently being treated), surgery and
medication, we're up to about $2000 and guaranteed to go higher. He has to have
lab work every 3 months to monitor for liver damage and metastasis, and any new
lumps have to be aspirated and/or widely excised if mast cells are present. I
don't know how I would have made decisions without the insurance. BTW... not to
advertise (really) but I misspelled the name of the company - it's HealthyPaws.
Anyone I have spoken with has been absolutely wonderful, helpful, and honest
about everything from the beginning. Plus, I've received reimbursements within
a week from the time of submission.

I figure I do enough complaining to others about companies that don't meet even
minimum standards, that when a good one comes along, I want to share the
positives!

well the garage guy is running 30-60 min behind schedule, so i called the
vet... they do not have a paypal address... darn it...

i had pet insurance on my Sonny... i had him less than 3 yrs... when he started
getting sick until he passed, i paid $4400 on him... insurance covered $3100...
it was really nice to be able to make decisions based on care & treatment vs
finances... of course, i got more out of it than i paid in premiums, lol... so
i lucked out.

Not a problem at all...

I'll call and make a donation for the little critter. I know the feeling of
having to make such medical decisions with limited finances. Not a good place
to be for either the poor dog or his mom and dad.

Ever so gratefully, I impulsively purchased pet insurance for my new little
rescue, Ziggy, and he was diagnosed with cancer only a few weeks later. I've
had an excellent experience with the company (HealthPaws), and knowing that I
can give him all the care he needs without the huge financial worry, is
priceless, for sure. So... if I can help someone else, I consider it payback
for my blessings.

Deb ~

Do you know if the hospital has a paypal account? I will donate anyway, I
just usually prefer to do it via paypal for my own records.

PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST

yesterday morning i got an urgent call from an adopter of mine... debbie &
brian adopted nikko & cherries jubliee in 06 & 07... the pair instantly
bonded and are known now as the dynamic duo :) he started vomiting on
thurs, stopped fri, hasnt eaten anything since and is very lethargic...

nikko's history w/ dates back to 2004... he was adopted by his foster home,
who then took in another new eskie named Sonny (who i ended up adopting)...
in 05, he was returned and sent to another foster home in OH... where he
jumped out a 2nd story window... on his way to his 2nd adopter in MI, he
bolted at the handoff in maumee, OH and was loose for abot 5 days... due to
the vigilance and determination of the locals, posters were put up and the
area businesses & residents knew about him... he finally got tired & hungry
enough that he approached 2 girls on their porch... his adopter then drove
from grand rapids to pick him...

9 months later, i saw a male eskie named nikko get listed by the grand
rapids shelter on petfinder... after it was confirmed he was OUR nikko (the
adopter had lied and told them she'd only had him a couple of weeks and
labeled him a biter- they didnt believe her, so evaluated him and put him
up for adoption)... i had him in my posession the very next day (4th of
july weekend!!)... and i swear nikko & sonny remembered each other, even
tho it was 2 yrs since they last saw each other.

shortly after, an app came in from brian & debbie... they knew nikko was
special to me, so we've stayed in touch over the years... they then adopted
cherry 6 months later and the rest is history...

anyway... after consulting w/ vets over the phone and spending some time at
the ER yesterday, (they could only do a little bit to help nikko since they
couldnt afford a lot)... they think nikko might have pancreatitis... he's
scheduled for bloodwork at 5pm today... both debbie & the vet's office has
agreed to accept calls from people who want to help cover nikko's care...
so if anyone wants to send even $10, that can really help...

Payment to be for the Brian/Debbie Kelly account for Nikko's care.

just a few weeks ago, i got a video from debbie of nikko & cherry at
christmas time... nikko's the quiet one, cherry's got the strange bark,
lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDy2MIYfTXQ
