Hi all, Thank Rachel so much for your very kind encouragement. There's only one week left to prepare for the exam. How awful! I'm afraid that short period of time is not enough for me. hic
In response to your question, I think the biggest achievement of Google is the huge number of people using Google's survices, not searching survice only. It's a quite typical strategy for IT companies to attract a large number of users before doing business because users are their customers. There're not only Google but also many others using this strategy such as Yahoo or AOL. However Google is the most powerful among these because of its strong searching. Most people using internet also use Google searching tool, it means all these people are Google's customers. Consequently, Google can develop many other products like advertising or host providing survice which bring them enormous profit. That's why I consider searching service as the most substantial part of Google company. Rachel. 2008/11/20, NgoNam <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Hi everyone, I'm a newcomer of this group. I find this group very excellent for any people who want to improve their English skills, so I want to become a member - an active member of this group with the hope that we could help each other in the English acquiring and learning process. I should introduce a little about myself. My name is Nam, from Vietnam. I have already graduated from foreign trade university of Vietnam, however my English is not so good. I plan to further my education by doing a master course in finance field in Australia. All the requirements have been met except language - in which it requires a minimum of 7.0 overall grade in IELTS exam with no band under 6.5. It's a big challenge not only for me but also for many other English learners, so I've been trying very hard to get there. After a long time of studying and researching, I gained some useful experience that I would like to share with you in the following emails. Now, I want to start taking on my obligation as a group member by giving a brief answer for the question this week. In my opinion, It's unlikely that we could live and work conveniently without Google - the strongest search engine in the world nowadays for several following reasons. First of all, in the information booming age these days, people can't live without search engine. It's obviously that the role of reach tool increases when the number of items rises and when this figure exceeds a certain limit, the ability to find the right one among vast amount of items is nearly impossible. Take the library for example, It's certainly unneeded to have an engine to help you looking for books on your bookcase. Nevertheless, the situation would be far different when books are stored in a school or university library, and especially in a national library, a search engine is really indispensable. This is the reason why search tools have been developing in the internet age nowadays. On the other hand, Google is the strongest search engine with an extremely huge storage of information all over the world. After many years of collecting, gathering and arranging information, Google now has nearly everything which is released in the internet. As a consequence, internet users can access any information they need through Google search tool. For example, if you want to know about the United State presidents like Washington or Lincoln, you just need to go to the Google.com website and type their names, thousands of useful likes will appear immediately for you to discover. In short, Google is the most powerful seek tool - which is extremely necessary in the world of vast information today. Therefore I support the idea that we can't live without Google. That's the end of my argument. I'm very glad to meet all of you and become a member of this group.
