Hi!

After knowing your concern about the flood in Brazil it springs to my mind
to describe for you a similar flood happening not long ago in Vietnam.
People said that it was biggest flood in Vietnamese history. It rained
continuously in 3 days pushing Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam and many
Northern provinces submerge under water. I had to be inside my home for
three days, however, I was still much luckier than many other people who
couldn't go to work and had to live at home without electricity or enough.
Some my friends even had to stay in their offices because they were unable
to "swim" to their home. Worse still, my niece had to delay her wedding
which is often considered as the most important event in each life for a
week due to the destruction of flood in her village.

The influences of flood remained terrible until now. 95% of vegetables and
rice died as the result of sinking too long under the water. Vegetables
become the "luxury" products for Hanoian as its price has increased by two
or even three times as much as normal. Besides, the flood also pushed many
families into difficulty. For example, it takes the farmers in my hometown
at least two years and a lot of money and effort to grow ornamental plants
to sell on TET holiday but now all their plants die due to the disaster of
flood, and most of them now become empty-handed. And all they have to now is
to grow new plants and wait patiently for new harvest in next two years,
however, no one can be sure that everything will be smooth!

Above is my brief description of historic flood in Vietnam. I also would
like to hear more interesting stories from both Vietnamese and Brazilian
friends about the terrible floods happening unfortunately in our countries.

Warm regards

Nguyen Thuy
