Good morning Ms Thuy; Hi Pablo and friends,

Thank you very much for your very quick and long answer. I am so happy to
receive your respond so soon. It's really meaningful for me as it shows that
the question is worth answering ^_^ I suddently remember Thuy's words about
this case. She said that all people would feel very delighted when their
friends answered their discussions quickly and enthusiatically. When first
hearing this, I thought it was obviously true however I coudn't perceive
exactly how feeling it was. At this moment I find it more exact than ever
^_^

I agree with Pablo and Thuy that both these two skills are very significant
in order to complete our job sucessfully. Without one of them, it would be
extremely difficult, sometimes impossible, to finish the job. However each
person has their own idea and has their own view about the role of these two
skills. So I do believe that we all want to know more opinions about this
topic :)

Thanks Thuy for your additional question, it's really an interesting and
challenging one^_^

P/S: Pablo, taking time in composing something is reasonable, especially
when writing in a foreign language. As I told before, I rarely write even in
my own language because of my poor literature talent ^_^. So writing here is
also a good chance for me to practise my language expressing skills. My
favourite saying is that "one sentence of paragraph for each idea in my
head" What is yours? ^_^

Thanks,
Nam

Subject: [ESL Podcast] Re: Is it more important to be able to work with a
group of people on a team or to work independently

Nam,

Some few months ago I answered a survey for Ed, the administrator of
our group, addressed to IT students, and if I remember well, one of
the conclusions was that to work in a group is one of the most
important factors to take into account to be successful at work, above
other ones.

Unfortunately what I perceive or notice in the region where I live is
a lack of collaboration in the workplace. I can't generalize but, at
least among elementary and high school teachers I have been able to
realize that the work in groups is minimal, everyone goes on the
defensive because of professional jealousy (most of the teachers don't
like to admit that they don't know about everything).

We all have to defend our jobs, then the mutual trust among members is
limited, and it's not so common that there be the appropriate
conditions that favor the team-work (e.g. low salaries, lack of
motivation). And to answer the question, I think both are important
if you are a good worker. They both complement each other. In some
jobs the team-work it's more important or viable. Personally, I could
say that I would prefer to work alone, but when the conditions are
given, the team-work is the ideal thing.

Well, answer to this post took me almost one hour! Is it that hard to
answer to similar questions like this for you too?

Thank you,

Pablo
