Hey Guys, well both I look at both the basics to setting up and using
a blog platform like wordpress and include video tutorials you can
access. Although there are plenty available on the web I had to
create some before for an internet training course.

But the real focus of blogging to better English is to help students
reach out and make friends with native speakers who share their
hobbies and passions.

I think it was Ed that posted the link to an article about not having
so much diversity in your reading. Instead focusing on specific
topics. I believe this is correct, because if you read something that
you're interested in then you're more likely to read not only more
but
with increased focus.

Same goes for speaking and well blogging. If you're from Japan and
you like origami, well there are native speakers who also like
origami
and if you post interesting information about it on your blog they
may
see it and comment and begin the foundation of a friendship based on
mutual interests.

Over time you may develop many longtime friendships that go beyond
the scope of your English studies benefiting both you and them.

I hope this helps answer some of your questions. If you have more
please don't hesitate to ask.

Dave (aka Mr. D)
