Hello Tara,

What you need to do is put your wireless card in promiscuous mode. It depends on your card how that should be done.

Another thing is: are you using Windows (WinPcap) or another OS? If you are using Windows you need a patch to WinPcap to recognize your card as a wireless card.

Let me know if you need some more help.

Best regards,

Subject: [Ethereal-dev] IEEE 802.11 protocol

Hi,

I am trying to capture data on my wireless network using ethereal. For some reason I cannot capture IEEE 802.11 protocol.

I can see UDP. I can then decode  this to view RTP information, this gives me alot of information, however what I need to see in subtype info, as I am interested in viewing RTS CTS and ack frames.

I have tryed to use filtering but I get the probe filter error.

Any help would be much apprecieted.

Regards,

Tara
