Hi Sandeep,

I'm running ethereal using an X Server on MacOS X for some time now.
It is fully usable.

The pnly thing not suported under MacOS X are te plug-ins. This is due
to some problems with libtools.

A native GUI would be fine, but make sure that you can still use the
developments made the dev-community.

I think the ethereal code is coupled with the glib stuff. The GUI stuff
is only available the ethereal code, but not in the tethereal stuff. That
could be a start of the investiation.

Best regards
Michael

Hi Everyone,

I'm considering doing a port of Ethereal to Mac OS X and most everything works with some tweaking, except the GTK part. I've heard about some ppl porting GTK over to OS X but that could be a long time coming, and this is a great tool that would help us out quite a bit...

I was wondering if anyone [fairly intimate with the source] could tell me how separate the UI is from the logic behind the scenes?

My plan is to create a new objective-c based UI and just make connect it to the underlying code...basically, whip out that old model-view-controller para-dig-em...

thanks,
-Sandeep
