Summary of the toolbar discussion:
The toolbar can be en-/disabled by a menu item: "View->Toolbar" with a check/uncheck
menu item (I think GTK supports this). This setting will be saved in the preferences
file, everytime it is changed. It will not be part of the preference GUI dialog.
The toolbar style ("icon", "text", "both") can be changed by a setting in the
preference GUI dialog "Edit->Preferences->User Interface" and will be saved each time
the user triggers the save button of this dialog.
Do I miss something out?
