It means that the company from whose machine that mail was sent has a bunch of nervous lawyers working for it who required that disclaimer to be attached to all their outgoing mail messages. (If that company is *your* company, you probably forgot to attach something to your message, so "the following" referred to the disclaimer rather than to the error to which you're referring.)
