Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you out there are using ethereal on a WAN interface like
HSSI or DS3?

I have been trying to get my cards (one from ImageStream and another from SDE) to
return the complete packet with L2 using both libpcap and via a raw socket
(recvfrom()) without success. (it can return complete packets ONLY when i set
encapsulation to raw-ip but then libpcap would not be able to identify its
encapsulation type)

The moment the card is set into its encapsulation mode of say "CiscoHDLC", it will
automatically stripe away my L2 header. Is there a bug with my card driver/firmware?
Guy Harris have suggested earleir that this is likely to be a problem with the
driver/firmware, but my card vendors have strongly insisted that theres nothing wrong
and highlighted that the card is working fine with ipchains as proof of its
operability in Linux.

Knowing that Ethereal provides dissector from the CiscoHDLC, i tot maybe some of you
here are already able to sniff on a WAN interface correctly. If so, can anyone
recommend a HSSI or a DS3 interface that can talk to ethereal correctly?
