Hi all, I have had a cisco PCMCIA 350 card installed and working under Linux 7.3 with the standard driver and the interface set to eth0 and the arlan4500_cs driver for the interface.
I tried to get the off air sniffing going by recompling my kernel (from 2.4.18-3 to 2.4.19) with the air_traf driver and I have succeded in doing that (compling only) however I am unable to get Etherreal to recognise that the card is installed on eth0 so I assumed that I must configure the interface, I tried to use the network configuration tool and set eth0 with driver (?) PCMCIA arlan 4500_cs. I am now however unable to start the interface. I am a bit confused as the kernel I believed load the driver and that seems to work well however what am I really doing with the network configuration tool and the other driver? After a couple of days I am starting to get confussed! Also if I set the card into rfmon mode, in the future, should I be able to read the config file and it will confirm the change of mode? appreciate any help, about ready to reach for the rope, thanks.
