Dear ethereal developers,
I consider ethereal a very helpful tool for administering networks.
Today I tried to install it on a windows 2000 server via a remote
terminal services client. Starting ethereal I got the following error
message:

GdK-EROR **; Palettized display (256-colour) mode not supported on
Windows;
Aborting

After pressing "ok" the following message appears:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: ...Pathname...

Abnormal termination

That means that this technical tool requires more than 256 colours, and
therefore can not be started via a terminal service client which has 256
colours by design (Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 273725).

Could that be changed??? It would be very helpful for remote
administration.

Regards
Werner Strunz
