I got the same problem as you and yes I installed
the Ethereal version in a new directory, but preferences
was pointing to 0.9.16 installation directory. Now
I understand why I had this problem, but not my collegue that
probably was overwriting the old
version.
If you close the MSDOS window (press any
key) where you get the error message then Ethereal will be
closed.
This is similar behaviour as you get for
similar warning messages (e.g. diameter dissector).
It should be enough to put an an empty file
default.tt in the directory C:\ProgramFiles\Ethereal-0.9.16\asn1
to get rid of the message for this specific
scenario. It worked for me at least.
I think that there was some discussion earlier
regarding whether Ethereal installation package should install an empty
file if there isn't any file.
