I have successfully cross compiled the EtherCAT master for PowerPC, it does 
seem to work and can see devices on the wire.  I am using a RTL8101E PCI 
Express adapter  (r8169)..

[email protected]:/opt/ppmac# ethercat slaves
0  0:0  INIT  E  EL9800 (V4.08) (SPI, ET1100)
[email protected]:/opt/ppmac# uname -a
Linux powerpmac 2.6.28.8 #17 Thu Jun 11 14:58:37 PDT 2009 ppc GNU/Linux
[email protected]:/opt/ppmac#
