Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction! There is actually example code for uC interface (MCI) in addition to the SPI interface. I'm honestly not sure how that got by me. I guess I was just hoping that the ASIC would handle the AL event transactions. ;) Getting this done without a dedicated processor could be a bit dicey though. I may see a MicroBlaze in my near future although I was hoping to avoid that.
