I recently checked out the mercurial archive for the development branch and
found the most recent r8169 device support at kernel 2.6.33. Recent popular
linux distributions are now at kernel 2.6.40. I can no longer run the optimized
device modules on my development system, which I like to keep up to date for
security reasons and to experiment with realtime improvments in the stock
kernel. How difficult is it to update a device module for newer kernels? Has
anyone done this? Is anyone at IgH involved in doing this kind of work? I'm
not in love with the r8169, so any other device would be ok if I can get an
updated module.

Thanks to all,
