Greetings,
we are currently planning a new project with our already existing RTAI code base and would like to implement an EtherCAT Master in there.
Most embedded boards available now feature newer Intel network chips, like the I210. Unfortunately, these chips are driven using the igb driver and not the older e1000e drivers.
In Kernel 3.16 the fitting driver for the I210 is already there, however it does not exist as EtherLab native driver.
I read in some several years old messages similiar questions like mine, but at that time, there was no solution to this aside from using a different network chip.
Did this change? Or is anyone working on implementing this? Or is anyone interested in a joint venture on this subject?
Right now, I am not even sure on the amount of effort needed to convert a linux driver to an EtherLab native driver or if there are maybe issues that make conversion of the igb driver especially difficult.
Thanks for your help,
Michael
