Dear EtherLab Community,

our open source toolkit for automation and measurement data acquisition
gets a new face! You have probably already noticed the new and uniform
logos for the EtherLab software components. Now there is also a new
homepage: https://etherlab.org

Recently there have also been some major changes under as well as above
the hood.

PdCom [1], our library for process data communication has got a modern
C++ and Python interface, which has resulted in the main version 5. The
Python API provides a simple interface for connecting third-party
systems, automating processes and generating protocols. Encryption and
authentication are also now natively supported. We are currently busy
migrating the dependent libraries and applications to PdCom 5.

The Testmanager application was also enhanced with several
features, such as broadcasts, table widgets, encryption and
authorization, parameter sets and a revised dialog for variable
connections. Early adopters are welcome to try this package [3].

The Data Logging Service (DLS) has been given an HDF5 export option.

The general goal is to make all software components available in the
Open Build Service [2] for openSUSE, Debian, Raspbian Fedora and
Ubuntu. We are always busy on the side to support new versions of the
different distributions.

We will gradually introduce the new features on LinkedIn [4] as well.
You are welcome to follow us.
