Hi Andreas
Thanks for your reply.
I was having issues with the interface (ec_igb driver) for normal
Ethernet not always starting up and working, but I switched to a newer
kernel and this issue went away.
I think it would be best if the driver was loaded but only bound to the
active interface.
I'm having another issue which I'll send with a new subject.
Again thanks
Mike

Hello Mike,
If the master starts the interfaces, he removes the igb driver and
loads the ec_igb driver by default.
So both interfaces are managed by the ec_igb driver.
But only one is used for ethercat. The other interface is registered
as normal NIC to the kernel.
Best regards

Hi All
I'm configuring a box which has two Ethernet interfaces using the
same network driver for both (igb)
Using the packages build by Forian and his team
(https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:bone11111:branches:science:EtherLab)
I would like to configure one port for EtherCAT and the other for
normal usage.
It seems to me that when I set the driver to "igb" in
/etc/ethercat.conf and enter an interface name or mac address in
MASTER0_DEVICE the ec_igb driver seems to still override both interfaces.
As the ec_igb is not the best for general Ethernet usage it would be
best to keep the normal driver active.
How do I accomplish this?
Thanks
Mike
