Removed some calls to [nil frame], which has undefined behaviour (and, due to a
bug in clang, currently corrupts the stack.).
Quentin: I'm not 100% sure the ETView change is right, please check it. I
suspect that calling this with nil as the argument is a bug elsewhere.
