Have you asked the Lucene folks about this? I think it's only polite.
After all, they might be the ones receiving bug reports for code that
you wrote.
We haven't asked them, but I know there are various Lucene
implementations in C++, C# etc. named "Lucene" but with a prefix or
suffix… More here :

Lucene C# version to take a concrete example.
And that's why I have proposed this LuceneKit similar scheme for the
Lucene Objective-C port name.
Why do you think they would receive bug reports for the code we wrote
(unless they are going to advertise/distribute this Objective-C port) ?
