These considerations are very thoughtful.
But, to me, they are not strong arguments.
Why do you not think so? Honestly, I am interested in hearing your
opinion on this matter elaborated a bit. Anyone can say something is not
a strong argument, but I would like to hear your rationale.
But if nobody cares, well, we could just keep étoilé, it's less work ;-)
Agree.
It's certainly less work, but I do think that a merged project deserves
a name which is representative of both contributions, which Etoile is
not (and by the way, with any American English keyboard, it's basically
impossible to type Etoile with accents without a very large amount of
work, copying and pasting and such, and that's not so good for brand
identity, in my opinion. I can not vouch for UK keyboards and other
British-English inspired layouts.)
My other concern is that I worry sometimes that the project will not be
taken as seriously by a minority, albeit a significant one, of the
global population as it otherwise would with another name. Etoile is not
very representative of what Etoile actually does or is. Should that not
be one of the primary goals of a good name, after all?
Also, I'm not really sure it's very fair to either side to stick with
either name.
So, could people express themselves by answering this little
questionnaire ?
- keep étoilé ? YES/NO/DON'T CARE
- if change, which name ? Resonance/Flux/OTHER
I'll tender my vote for Resonance, for the abovementioned reasons. If
anyone would like me to explain my rationales further, I would be more
than happy to do so.
