Thanks. Unfortunately, my current university schedule doesn't allow me to do a lot of Etoile-related things, so I won't have the time for it. As a general note on the Installer, as far as I can tell there are two different ideas of installation procedures that came up in parallel in the Etoile context. One is the support for the distribution-specific package format. This is definitely wishful and should belong to any decent desktop environment. Installer.app goes into the right direction with its abstraction layer, but I'd prefer a simple update tool like MacOS or Ubuntu has. The other installation procedure that was talked about is an Etoile- specific installation procedure. Maybe I am doing something wrong here, but I personally have the problem on my (FreeBSD) machine that every time I recompile AppKit and FoundationKit, I need to recompile all my apps and frameworks as well. Seeing problems like this, I wonder if there's a possibility to ship GNUstep applications in binary format at all. When deploying bundles on more different platforms, things are very likely to get even more complicated. Has anyone suceeded to build a bundle which works on both Linux and BSD (with both GNUstep installed in /usr/ GNUstep and /opt/GNUstep)? -Günther _______________________________________________ Etoile-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/etoile-dev
