Aha... ok... this sounds more like the behavior I see (tho I do not
see any windows working). I will check the Azalea resources when I
am back on that box on friday. For now, I will use openbox then. It
does sound like our experiences are nearly identical.
I was very impressed with what I saw. I'd like to help contribute
fixes as I am able. Do I need to sign a contributor agreement like I
have to for GNUstep?

Right, and this works great - EXCEPT my windowmanager... it starts
up Etoile and everything, but my WM does not start at all. This
means I can't move windows etc.
So how does one SET the windowmanager you want to use? I'm
guessing this is probably the problem. Also, what WM are you using?
Heh -- suddenly I feel very dumb. Please accept my apologies. I
came to realize that what I achieved was /not/ everything you'd
expect. What is achieved is this: It uses Azalea, etoile's own
windowmanager, a fork of openbox. So I have a menu when I right-
click on the desktop, can launch fbrun (which I have configured in
~/.config/openbox/rc.xml), xterm and so on.
What the problem in my case is: Only those apps handled by Azalea
(i.e. launched via menu or from xterm/fbrun) have a window frame
and titlebar. So I can only move/resize those apps, but not those
handled by GNUstep. E.g, when I enter 'openapp TalkSoup' in fbrun/
xterm, there is a new window created with the correct application,
and I get the menu on the top of the screen, but I can't move/
resize the window for wont of a frame/grabbing handle.
Also, etoile's top-menu shows only on the first workspace.
It seems I have been so overly happy that I got it to launch /at
all/ after many problems that the persisting problems crept out of
my memory (right now I am back in blackbox).
Do you have Azalea's resources copied to the right places?
(Services/Private/Azalea/Resources -- xml files go to ~/.config/
openbox/; theme/Azalea directory goes to /usr/share/themes)
At one place it has been said that it can't hurt to install openbox
beforehand in order to have all dependencies in place. I have done
it, but I can't tell if it was really necessary.
BTW, on another occasion, I have launched /usr/local/bin/
etoile_system from /within/ my window manager (blackbox), and got
at least some success.
Sorry again for being overly optimistic and too hasty in my first
mail.
