Hi all,
I guess I've finally found an itch to scratch. Today I was thinking how nice it would be to have a database to manage all those articles I once have printed out for my studies. I once had put something together for my professor, but that was in MS Access, and today and for my personal needs/taste, I would like to meet some different criteria.

Of course, article author, title, source and pages are sine qua non, but how about these:

- First, I want to maintain keywords, eventually abstracts for all records. (I would prefer not to be bound to a fixed set of keywords.) - Second, I want to maintain "clickable" references to local pdf files where available. - Third, I want the data to blend in nicely with BiBTeX. I guess this is the item that needs most thought. Shall I keep a separate database (and having seen the recent discussion about AddressKit, would this be the place to go?)? Then, how do I keep it in synch with my *.bib file? Or should I manipulate the bib-file directly (one way or the other, I probably need a bibfile parser, no?)?

But the first question actually is: Do you think this is a suitable project for a first-time objective-c newbie? I could imagine that the parser stuff, eventually the database backend integration make up for some difficulties that a newbie like me should better avoid.

I would be very thankful for any insights. On the other hand, I really don't want to raise any expectations -- it's probably going to take some time until I even find some time to spend on it. (I should really be writing my thesis in a totally non-IT subject.) Plus, I have yet to read a _lot_ of documentation, too.

TIA,
Andreas
