I still hold to the belief that applications could be completely
eliminated. If somebody wishes to discuss this, I'm ready...
It you look at the implementation,
what you need is an GNUstep application which:
1. have no main menu.
2. have no icon window
3. advertise its service
4. application terminates when the last window is closed.
All of them can be done with GNUstep.
For example, a burn.app:
1. when user open the service menu, it will see a "burn" service
provided by burn.app
2. when user choose several items in object manager and use "burn" service,
burn.app will provide a dialog to assist burning.
3. after the burning, users close that burn dialog and burn.app terminates.
4. if users happen to find out burn.app and double-click it, the
same burn dialog
shows up. Maybe it can provide drag-and-drop to add items
instead from services.
It is very straight forward and can be done by today's GNUstep.
If you concern preference of burn.app,
just put a preference pane in the system preferences and use it for burn.app.
What else is missing ?
