I would say project is just another object, like application, bundle, etc. Therefore, you can tag it and play it with object manager. If you think about Gorm, it is a miniature project manager. You open a .gorm file and several UI scattering on the destkop. You can close one and open another. So I don't see the difference between a project and a object. A project is just a kind of object, like any other. We just put projects as first-class object and allow it to use the space of desktop. Therefore, it looks like the desktop is the project manager. But I believe underneath, there is a project manager application dealing with all the stuff.
