It's not much faster (on my box_TM).

I wrote a similar thing as a bundle that is loaded by my window
manager running as a separate task. Works well enough.

This would require reconfiguring the X server configuration to take
advantage of XRender, XComposite, XDamage and XFixes.

It also isn't very fast (and at least on my box) didn't always work as
expected -- Windows weren't always updated, windows were drawn in
black (on a black background) and were only highlighted if you click
around guessing where a window MIGHT be. That's counter-productive.
