I'd definitely agree with that for the LiveCD. XScreensaver itself is fairly simple; most of the hard work is done by the 'hacks' (small programs that actually display the screensaver), while xscreensaver itself just does the activation and deactivation of them. I need to write some code for detecting user-idle time anyway for auto-away in the Jabber client, so I am tempted to write a replacement for XScreensaver. GNOME and KDE both do this, to allow the configuration to be done from their respective control centres. This would have two major advantages for us: 1) Controls could be done via a distributed notification (activate, deactiveate, disable). 2) A notification could be sent when the screensaver is activated, allowing other components to alter their behaviour. 3) The screensaver controls would be a preference pane. 4) The 'unlock screen' dialog would use the Nesedah theme properly. _______________________________________________ Etoile-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/etoile-discuss
