Hey everybody, I am very excited to see 0.2 is finally finished. The mailing list traffic is way up; this looks healthy!
I just compiled 0.2 on Debian Etch and ran ./setup.sh as root. (I have posted here before, but this is a completely fresh install of Debian (long story) and this is the first time I've installed Etoile on this system; I am not installing 0.2 over any svn checkout or anything like that.) From GDM I chose 'etoile.desktop' as my session and logged in, and only got a one-color background with absolutely nothing else (just the blue background left over from GDM, not the background that would have been set by AZBackground). My .xsession-errors reads as follows: /etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp /etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /v ar/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l ":0" "james" /etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup... 2007-08-01 03:47:51.299 etoile_system[2193] Setting up SCSystem server instance 2007-08-01 03:47:51.663 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 1 2007-08-01 03:47:51.664 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 2 2007-08-01 03:47:51.664 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 3 2007-08-01 03:47:51.665 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 4 2007-08-01 03:47:51.665 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 5 2007-08-01 03:47:51.666 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 6 2007-08-01 03:47:51.666 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 7 2007-08-01 03:47:51.667 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 8 2007-08-01 03:47:51.667 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 9 2007-08-01 03:47:51.668 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 10 2007-08-01 03:47:51.669 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 11 2007-08-01 03:47:51.670 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 12 2007-08-01 03:47:51.670 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 13 2007-08-01 03:47:51.671 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 14 2007-08-01 03:47:51.671 etoile_system[2193] Failed to determine offsets for style 15 2007-08-01 03:47:51.771 etoile_system[2193] WARNING: no usable workspace process set file found. Any idea what the problem might be? On to a few other things: When running ./setup.sh, I get this message: Copying Themes in /usr/GNUstep/System/Library/Themes cp: cannot stat `/home/james/Etoile-0.2/Themes': No such file or directory I don't know how serious this problem is, but if I do the following: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Etoile-0.2$ mkdir Themes [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Etoile-0.2$ cp -r Bundles/Camaelon/Nesedah.theme/ Themes/ and run ./setup.sh again (as root), the 'Copying Themes" goes off perfectly. Also, I was poking around your website and clicked on the "Screenshots" link on the top bar beneath the flower image. This takes me to some screenshots of the 0.2 pre-releases, but not the screenshots of the 0.2 release that you get to by clicking in the release notice in the News section below. Just a recommendation to point the "Screenshots" link at the top of the page to the latest 0.2 release shots. Two more little things: in the README file in Etoile-0.2, the very first lines read "ETOILE-0.1." In the INSTALL file, two versions of gnustep-back, 0.12 and 0.10 are listed. That's all for now, thanks for any help you can give. Thanks so much for all the time you put into this software!
