Hello,

I already reported about my problems re-running `make install'
for Etoile. After I updated my Etoile code from the svn I had
to go through this process again and I tried to obtain some
more information about the kind of problems I got here.

I have my hand-compiled GNUstep installation in
/usr/local/GNUstep. After I compile and `make install' Etoile
for the first time (i.e. it has not been installed into
/usr/local/GNUstep before) it will run fine.

Now I have upped my sources from the svn and re-run `make
install'. I log out (or even re-start my box) and login via
gdm. Etoile will not load, as it tells me via .xsession-errors
it cannot connect to the gdmc server.

I login using WindowMaker and try to run AZDock from the
command line, it runs fine. Now I logout and log into an xterm
failsafe session. I source /etc/profile, ~/.profile and
/etc/GNUstep/GNUstep.sh, and I can run etoile fine. After
logging out and setting Etoile as my session in the gdm will
still not work, same error message.

Now I checked out Etoile from the svn and ran `make' and `make
install' again, still using the old /usr/local/GNUstep
installation. I still get the same result, Etoile is unable to
connect to gdnc.

The only thing which works is to wipe out my GNUstep
installation, re-install all apps and then install Etoile into
it.

This is a bit frustrating :(

Cheers,

Martin

My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.
