Ah, you didn't say that you were using x86-64. That might account for some things, although the last 'error' wasn't one. What problems are you getting now? I don't know if anyone has built on FreeBSD/x86-64 yet, although we do have people using FreeBSD/i386 and Ubuntu/x86-64...
