Just for kicks, I went to the site to see how/when this rule is described to
newcomers.  Sure, it is mentioned on the home page...and in the description
of the etree and etrade lists.  But, it isn't emphasized, and if you are
reading quickly, you could easily skip right over it.  With all the effort
that goes into keeping the site and organization up and running, I would
think it should be pretty simple to PUT THAT PARTICULAR RULE (which seems to
be so important to the mission of etree.org) IN BOLD/CAPITAL/COLORED LETTERS
so it jumps out at the reader as they are signing up for the list.  Then you
could legitimately say "how could you have missed that ?"

remember, that no matter how much we talk about taper unfriendly bands and
list rules, newbies will *always* wander in and ask before reading the
rules.  I think we should give newbies one and only one chance to make a
mistake and learn from it.
